One camera that turns and zooms, mounted high on the chimney so it covers what several fixed cameras would.

What went in, and why.
Some properties want one camera that can see a lot rather than several that each see a bit. A PTZ turns, tilts and zooms, and the higher it sits the more it can do. On this house the highest point was the chimney stack, so that’s where it went.
Getting up there is the job. The bracket has to be solid, the cable has to come down without being seen, and the camera has to be set up so the owner can swing it round from the app rather than climbing up to look.
It’s not the right answer for every house. If yours has one long drive or a big yard, it might be. Ask me on the visit and I’ll tell you straight.

- Pan, tilt, zoom. A camera that turns and zooms in from the app instead of pointing one way. One PTZ up high can cover ground that would otherwise take several fixed cameras.
- Can you put a CCTV camera on a chimney?
- Yes, with the right bracket and a safe way up. The chimney is often the highest point on a house, which is what a PTZ wants.
- Is a PTZ camera better than fixed cameras?
- It depends on the property. A long drive or an open yard suits a PTZ. A house with a front door, a side gate and a back yard is usually better with fixed cameras. I will tell you which on the visit.
