What went in, and why.
A shop in Halifax needed a proper alarm. I fitted a Texecom system, the commercial-grade kind rather than a starter kit: panel, detectors, siren and the cabling between them.
Shops don’t shut for me, so the work got done around the customers and the trunking got tidied as I went. The photos here are from outside. Where anything sits inside a business stays between me and the owner.
When it trips, the siren goes off and the owner gets an alert on his phone. I don’t describe alarms as anything more than that. The shop isn’t named because I haven’t asked the owner.

- Yes. The siren sounds on the premises and an alert lands on your phone the moment it trips. It is a self-monitored system: you see the alert and you decide what to do.
- What is the difference between a commercial-grade alarm and a home one?
- More zones, a bigger panel and detectors suited to a shop floor. Most homes want something simpler, and I will say so if that is you.
